Six Words

Posted at 12:53 am under Deep thoughts, hope, life metaphor, my opinions

Michael over at Smoke and Mirrors tagged me for this meme, which originated with Bookbabie. It’s taken hold of the blogosphere and it’s possible, thousands of bloggers are embracing it, apparently, they’ve lost count - and how cool is that?

The rules are:
1. Post a six word memoir
2. Link to the person who tagged you.
3. Link to the originator of the meme, in this case Bookbabie
4. Tag 5 other bloggers

I went through endless possibilities for the memoir, I mean for Heaven’s sake, it’s only six words - a little restrictive if you ask me. I like words so much that I didn’t want all the other words to feel left out…still, you must choose at some point, yes? So…

I lie awake, looking for truth

Now, as to the tagging, I’m not big on that and the chances are good that most everyone has done this but I’ll throw some names out there anyway. I tag….

So, take it away, ladies.

    I like this very much.
The sound of it, the look of it . . .
Can’t tell you how much I liked doing this.
There’s a book out with 6-word-memoirs by all kinds of people. This stuff reminds me of a short, short Hemingway wrote and it was rumored to be one of his favorites: “For sale: baby shoes, never used.”
Six words can be so very powerful.
    Thanks for playing, Annie

LOL - that’s the difference between you and me - I struggle with this sort of thing, terribly. I do recall seeing the Hemingway short - he had this sort of thing down. Although, my favorite Hemingway will always be A Movable Feast.

    Thanks for tagging me…I think …. ;)

Thanks, hon, and here all this time I figured you for sleeping like a baby. :)

Hello! I went ahead and provided ALL the attempts I went through on this meme (thx for the tag). I could have just used my blog title: Idea Jump, From Thoughts to Action.

    Happy Wednesday :)

It is tempting to do that, isn’t it? Maybe I should have gone that route??? ;)

Good job Annie! I had a really tough time leaving words out too, which is rather apparent when you see my extremely wordy post….

Oh, we of too many words….tough, ain’t it? When is yours going up?

Excellent little memoir we can all relate too! We have definitely lost count of all the players, its been fun to follow the meme when I can though, thanks so much for playing:)

    Thanks BB,
Clearly it’s a great meme or you wouldn’t have so many joining in. I was delighted to play.

Probably one of the best meme’s I have seen. And you did a great job. But thanks for not tagging me. Only 6 words would make my brain rattle!

Okay then, I’ll save you for a wordier meme. ;) It does make the brain rattle - and was really much more of a challenge than I thought it would be.

Very nice! I’m always interested in your take on these things and I’m always impressed. :)

    Thanks, Teens
And oh shoot, why didn’t I tag you? What was I thinking. Okay, I’m officially tagging you now! ;)

Where is this beautiful island located? Great work Annie!

Thank you, Flug. And I don’t know where this island is - perhaps in the mind of the artist? A friend send me the pic and I loved it. BTW, went to your blog but I’m afraid I couldn’t read it, any english version out there?

Love yours, Annie! This was such a great meme, I had fun snooping around reading everyones.

    Hey 2LD!
Yes, this was a really interesting meme - I haven’t seen a lot of them though, it’s new to me. Apparently a lot of people are doing them, I don’t where the heck I’ve been.

  14. Spazon 25 Jun 2008 at 11:43 am 14

    LOVE IT!

Also like the fact that it’s so catch 22-ish, if I visual someone ‘lying awake’ I see them lying in bed at night, not being able to sleep. At night it’s dark and looking for something in the dark is a royal pain.

Having said that, sometimes the only way to ’see’ or ‘find’ something is when it’s dark so that we don’t get distracted by too much stuff.

    Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

Have I said ‘me likes’? :-)

    Spaz,
You’re so cute, only you could write 5 paras about 6 words. You’re right about the dark - sometimes you can’t see anything until the lights are out. Thanks, honey.

Let me know when you find it..I’ll be able to get a good nights rest myself! lol

    Awesome job…well done!

    LOL Gracie,
Here all this time I thought you were going to enlighten me. I guess we’re in a whole heap of trouble, huh? ;)

  17. joanharveston 25 Jun 2008 at 3:58 pm 17

I did this 6 memoir thing too. Yours is so prophetic.

Spaz’s comment “At night it’s dark and looking for something in the dark is a royal pain” really could be a comment about what I wrote.

I thought and thought about this a lot. I should have put “Don’t do drugs they will kill” but I didn’t want my son to see it. So I went another route.

A lot of people have done this one and I have really loved what everyone has come up with. Yours hits very close to home for me especially in my relationship with my son.

    Oh Joanie,
I must have missed yours, when did you do it? You and I seem to have many parallells in our lives, don’t we?

    Hugs,
    A

Thanks for tagging me: I love this.

I really do believe it IS possible to write a six-word memoir. I will try and think of something a-MA-zing . . .

    Marianne,
I was happy to tag you because I think you’ll do a great job. And please let me know when it’s up. I’m really starting to groove on these things.

Hmmm, I’ve been seeing these everywhere and you were the first one to post more about it, where it’s been, etc. I love a MeMe, and this one was great. I may have to do it, although I came up with the first four words already “I don’t feel good” and can’t think of anything else to add to that. It’s too bad it’s a phrase I say every day of my life.

    The Girl from the Ghetto

    Hey GFTG,
Consider yourself tagged - only catch is, you have to let me know when it’s up. Deal?

    i like yours.
It suits you perfectly, your character- truth seeker.

i did do it before, but’ve written several and haven’t decided on one.

But i will take this as a challenge to find the one that sums me up. It’ll be up possibly on Saturday.

    Thanks for the tag. :)

Thanks, Chica - for liking it and for what you said too. I dont recall ever seeing your posting this before and I thought I’d seen most everything you’ve posted but maybe I missed it. I will look forward to seeing what you do with it - I know it will be great, original and unexpected, just like you.

[...] Writerchick tagged me with this six-word memoir meme, which was originated by bookbabie. I couldn’t resist a word challenge, but wore myself out trying to do this one, so I’m calling it quits with my most recent attempts shown above. The meme thing says you’re supposed to link to the person who tagged you, and to the person who started the meme. The last step is to tag five other people, but I’ll just settle for issuing an open invitation to anyone who stops by here and wants to try it. [...]
